Catt > Penney? Well, not on a most days, perhaps… but Martin Cattalini showed some vintage form to lead the Perth Wildcats to a come-from-behind victory over the New Zealand Breakers last night in En Zed.

Catt put 18 points on the board, with 17 of those points coming in the final quarter. Penney put up 29 points in an expectedly fine performance, but it wasn’t enough as the Breakers again squandered a lead to lose in the fourth.

— NBL (Sportal) match report

“The Wildcats outscored the Breakers 38-22 in the final period.  The Breakers’ 38 points was the highest fourth quarter score by any team thus far this season.  Perth’s 106 total points was the eighth time this season that a team had reached the century mark and the equal-third highest team score in a game this season.”

“Until we show the rest of the league that we can close out games, the opposition will always feel they are a chance.

What we have shown is that we can hang with the “top dogs” of the NBL. It would be a different story had we been losing by a large margin.

I feel we are right on the cusp of turning our form into a winning streak.

The good thing is we get another chance Saturday against the Adelaide 36ers on their home floor.”
