Wednesday, 13 January, 2010 was almost an historic day in Australian NBA history. It was almost the first time we would see two sets of Aussies playing each other in the NBA on the same evening.

In Houston, TX we had the matchup of the big men in David Andersen’s Rockets against Nathan Jawai’s Minnesota Timberwolves. That game was a triple-overtime thriller taken out by the Rockets. Of course, neither Andersen (6 min) or Big Nate (9 min) were major factors in that game, but they got playing time, which is a big thing when it comes to Aussie NBA basketball, right?

Meanwhile, in Portland, the Milwaukee Bucks were visiting. Andrew Bogut, the King of Aussie NBA hoops was unsurprisingly a centrepiece for the Bucks… unfortunately, his Boomers teammate Patty Mills had been sent back to the D-League by the Portland Trail Blazers just before the game, so the double match-up was unable to happen. Patty has only managed to get five minutes of action in one game during his stint with the Blazers, so his presence on court was unlikely anyway.

Caught up in all of this were a few Aussie punters that made the trip to Portland to cheer Mills on (and of course Bogut too, I assume). Who are these guys? See pics above/below. Someone out there knows them. Whoever they are, they deserve a VB from me, for getting out there and supporting Patty and the Blazers.

Reminds me of a little while back when some Aussie Phoenix Suns fans got some love on the game coverage.
