Great news for international basketball fans — particularly those who follow the Australian and Asian leagues. FIBATV.com has announced that they are showing live coverage from the Asean Basketball League (ABL) and the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). All of these games are free to view, all you need to do is register and login to FIBATV.com.

The following ABL games will be available in the near future:

ABL

03/02/10              KL Dragons v Philippine Patriots                       12:00 GMT (Live right now as I type!)
03/02/10              Satria Muda BritAma v Singapore Slingers             13:00 GMT

07/02/10              Singapore Slingers v Satria Muda BritAma             08:00 GMT
07/02/10              Philippine Patriots v KL Dragons                        08:00 GMT

Of course Aussie fans will remember the Singapore Slingers from a bygone era. Meanwhile the only NBL game on the schedule right now is (with more TBA):

NBL

03/02/10              Cairns v Perth                   08:30 GMT

The Perth Wildcats visit the ‘Skytrans’ Cairns Taipans and look to consolidate their top position in the league.  The two teams were involved in a fiery encounter last time they met, with three players ejected in a bad-tempered game. Watch Cairns v Perth live* for free on FIBATV.com – Click here

*NBL Live coverage not available in Australia or New Zealand

That last footnote is pretty important for NBL fans within Australia, who will have to tune into FOX to watch the game. On the other hand, it’s great for overseas NBL fans (like myself) and potential new NBL fans in Asia who will likely tune in.
