Dallas Morning News – The former fiancée of pro basketball star Dirk Nowitzki was sentenced this morning to five years in prison for violating probation in a 12-year-old forgery and theft case. Cristal Taylor had planned to marry the Dallas Mavericks player and has said she is pregnant with his child. She was arrested at his home on May 6 and accused of failing to pay for $10,000 in cosmetic dental work in Texas in 2006.

JR, On Fire – Joe Ingles saved the day for the Australian Boomers as they came away with a 84-77 victory over the New Zealand Tall Blacks in the first leg of their two-game series. Sun Sentinel – Michael “GorillaBeas” Beasley has been checked into a Houston rehab facility, where he will be assisted by rehab-guru John Lucas, amongst others. Beasley has been exhibiting unusual behaviour through his Twitter account in the last few days and appears to be in need of some guidance. Truehoop has more on the situation here.
