This is some classic footage and as is rarely the case, it’s good quality too (unlike that LeBron TMZ stuff). Underground sources have picked up this video of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar having Spalding written on his face by Artis Gilmore — footage that adidas has tried to suppress for about thirty years. Sure, Kareem came turned too late and tried to block him at the last minute, but there’s no doubt that the big A-Train stuffed it on him.

Word is that Kareem had a quiet word to his adidas reps immediately after the play and the game tape was confiscated from WGN Sports. Or perhaps this is all a tall tale — but if you’re still reading at this point, you’ll definitely want to watch the video.

There is more than just the dunk here. We also see footage of Pistol Pete Maravich throwing a tasty full court underarm dish, that hits his man right on the chest. But more than this, Pete throws it from the hip. Pistol was dropping dimes well before the Nick Van Exel 23 assist game — and he had no assistance from the scorers’ bench on this one.

And in a pre-cursor to the days of Dikembe Mutombo and the like spreading the goodwill in Africa, we see David Skywalker Thompson doing his part to think of those less fortunate. The NBA Cared — even back in the day.

Massive props to youtube user sandiegotos who provides many quality videos like this one, making our lives that much more productive. Just not at work.
