Quite often when people look at NBA players and other top-level athletes, many assume that they make it to the top through the sheer luck of being blessed with unusual athleticism. Whilst that gift of fortunate genes plays a large part in getting to the top, it is certainly not the be-all-and-end-all. There is a huge amount of hard work involved in fine tuning that raw material into the intricately polished machine you see on the hardwood.

The thing is, we rarely get to see the hard work that goes on on the practice courts and in the gymnasiums of the basketball world. Last year, we looked at various videos showing Steve Blake working behind the scenes, training through his regular regime in the Blazers practice facility. Today, thanks to Dime Magazine, we have some more footage of detailed drills. This time it’s NBA prospect, Sylvan Landesberg of the University of Virginia, preparing for draft invitationals.
