2K Sports today released the track listing for their anticipated release of NBA 2K10. Most basketball video games in recent years have been heavily geared towards hip-hop and rap, but this is where 2K have mixed things up this time around.
The mixture of artists includes flavour-of-the-moment, MGMT, as well as stalwart, Kanye West. According to the press release, “The soundtrack also includes an original song from Grammy-nominated artist, The Game, titled “Champion.”“
The NBA 2K series is celebrating its 10th anniversary — having come a long way since their early days as upstart rivals to the well-established NBA Live series, by EA Sports. Both companies have shown that competition pays, pushing the envelope in terms of new features with every release. Another carrot thrown to the gamer this time around is the ability to use some of their favourite music artists on the court:
“In NBA 2K10, some of the featured music artists will also make in-game cameos as playable characters, including Kanye West, The Game, Asher Roth, David Banner, Twista, Pitbull, and a variety of others. Each of the in-game artists will appear exclusively in the NBA 2K10’s Streetball mode.”
