Longtime NBA guard Craig Ehlo, best remembered for his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, was recently praised by NBA legend Michael Jordan for having the spunk and determination to play his entire career without a superstar teammate.
“You have to admire guys like Craig Ehlo that played in this league for so long and didn’t join up with one or two Hall of Fame type guys,” said Jordan. “Not a single superstar teammate in 14 seasons. Maybe if he had a teammate like that, he could have gotten out of guarding me for, you know, ‘Shot on Ehlo….Bulls win!’. Of course, I would have made that shot regardless of the defender, because I’m awesome, so maybe that’s a bad example. Anyway, kudos to Craig Ehlo for being average.”
Despite any regrets he may have about never teaming up with a superstar, Ehlo is pretty content with his career.
“My career is what it is. I played in the league 14 seasons, and made some great friends along the way. But if I had to do it over again, maybe I’d play with the likes of Rony Seikaly, Frank Brickowski or Alaa Abdelnaby, as long as it didn’t make me look too desperate.”
To this day, Ehlo’s backcourt mate in Cleveland, Mark Price, insists his 1992-93 All-NBA 1st Team honor was not a practical joke.
