At the start of the season, Rajon Rondo set himself some goals for 2009-10. He wanted to keep on improving his defence and show people that his endurance was improved. Don’t believe me? Watch this video…
So he intends to make the All-Defensive First team — we’ll wait to see if that comes to fruition. So far, he certainly has improved his steal average of last season from 1.9spg to 2.4spg. Is he playing better defence as a whole? I’ll leave that to a more ardent watcher of the Boston Celtics to judge.
He also intended to get up more and play full-court on his man. Once again, Celtics fans, has that been the case?
His endurance. Well, he is averaging three-and-a-half more minutes per game, so that is a positive. Whether that is a natural progression in his development, more trust from Doc Rivers, his improved endurance, or a combination of all of these, would be interesting to analyse.
And that last, big goal? A championship. The way things are going this season for the Cs, it might be better to focus on those individual goals, Rajon.
I’ve watched my fair share of Celtics games this season, but I’d like to hear what the every-game-watching fans in Beantown have to say on Rondo’s progress against his stated goals. Call it a late season report card. Have at it in the comments…
