In the latest interaction between the NBA and Twitter, Kyle Korver has taken himself off the social networking site until the end of the season to avoid distraction. With the Utah Jazz jockeying for playoff position in the tightly packed Western Conference, it makes sense that players focus their attention.
This episode in the NBA’s new love affair with Twitter comes after Mark Cuban was fined for comments he made about referees via the platform and after Charlie Villaneuva was reprimanded for his tweeting during half-time of a game.
By far the most Twitter-savvy team is the Phoenix Suns, including coach Alvin Gentry, his wife and daughter, many of the team’s management staff, Steve Nash and the biggest Tweeter of them all, The_Real_Shaq. With the Suns gradually setting on this season and their playoff hopes dwindling, it is unlikely that our entertainment from Shaq’s tweets will stop any time soon. Let’s hope.
When will we see the Commish himself tweeting? That would be a great sign of the NBA’s technological dominance.
