It’s that part of the NBA off-season where the league ramps up its marketing efforts in other parts of the world. LeBron James is currently in London, United Kingdom. Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh are in Africa with Basketball Without Borders. Jordan Farmar has been sighted in China. And now we find Kevin Durant with the Portland Trail Blazers Dancers in Hong Kong.
The latter has been a bit lacking in exposure in the western media, but KD himself has mentioned it numerous times on his twitter feed and has UStreamed live from Hong Kong as well. The big event that Durant and the Blazers girls are in Hong Kong for is called NBA Madness 2009 (Chinese language), which seems to be a continuation of the same event previously held in Indonesia, starring David Lee and the Miami Heat dancers.
As is expected in this digital age — and especially in a teched-up place like Hong Kong — footage of the event is on the youtubes. So you can see the Blazers dancers doing their thing (in case you’ve been missing them) and see Durant look incredibly enthusiastic shooting against a local player in some form of long distance shootout competition.
