The tentacles of the NBA’s international network continue to grow. And David Stern smiles.
Jeremy Lin, the American-born Taiwanese-heritaged signee of the Golden State Warriors, this morning arrived in Taiwan to a warm welcome by media. Lin is the first player of Taiwanese background to formally sign with an NBA team and is in Taipei after an invitation from Yao Ming to play in an exhibition match.
Other NBA players who will be playing in Wednesday night’s game include Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks, the NBA’s Most Improved Player Aaron Brooks of the Houston Rockets, and Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies. More here.
Meanwhile, reports on Yao indicate that the big man will struggle through this NBA season as he tries to recover from injury, with a strong likelihood that he will be forced to retire from basketball.
