Firstly, apologies — it has been a while. A while since I have had the time to post at A Stern Warning. Three weeks in fact — which seems like forever to me. In the three-and-a-half years this site has been running, that’s one of the longer DNP-inactive streaks that we’ve seen. Life gets in the way.
Anyway, more importantly: Patty Mills news. There is a great feature this week as part of the ongoing Aussies Abroad series on ESPN that features our boy Patty Mills!
Yes, if you’ve followed this site at all in the past, you’ll know that this has been the unashamed home of the cheersquad for Patty Cakes since the way old days, before anyone knew who this kid was; when many (including a number of Aussie mates of mine) had big doubts that he could make it in the NBA.
Well, Patty indeed has made it… not as far as he wants just yet, but he has made it to the NBA and is looking just fine.
The ESPN video features a look at Patty’s story from right back in the beginning, growing up in Canberra, going to the AIS, playing at St Mary’s College and then making the big time with the Portland Trail Blazers. A quality look at a quality young man and highly promising basketball player. Many thanks to fellow Patty fan (and fellow serial twitter #MorePattyPlease hashtagger), Sarah Moon for pointing out this video to me during my hiatus from the important world of NBA basketball.
And if that’s not enough Mills action for you, check him out on the NBA Hangtime Podcast:
