DJ Mbenga

We all know of Activision’s hit game Guitar Hero and many will have heard of the new release DJ Hero, but not many will be aware of the upcoming release: DJ Mbenga. This game will rock you like never before.

This site covers a lot of Portland Trail Blazers news, just due to my own biases, so I thought it was time to give something to the Los Angeles Lakers fans out there. At least I know Don at with-malice will appreciate this.

On the topic of DJ Mbenga, I really do enjoy watching the big fella play — he gives it his all, even if he is never the most talented player on the floor. For those that are unaware, Mbenga was almost not with us, after a tough journey to the NBA. Have a read of this excerpt from Mbenga’s wikipedia page:

Mbenga was born in and raised in Zaire, now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where his father was a government employee.[3] When a new regime took over power, it sought everyone who worked for the previous leader.[3] As unrest in the country escalated, Mbenga’s father was imprisoned.[3] Although he was eventually unable to save himself, he did manage to negotiate on behalf of his sons, who were also imprisoned and waiting to be executed. Mbenga fled the country on a plane to Belgium, where he received asylum.[3] While living in a refugee center, he was discovered by Belgian basketball legend Willy Steveniers, who eventually served as Mbenga’s personal basketball mentor.[4]

You have to respect a guy who has been through all of that to get to where he is now.
