Every year on 25 April, the people of Australia celebrate ANZAC Day, to remember the efforts of the military forces of Australia and New Zealand in keeping our countries safe and maintaining the standard of living to which we have become accustomed. The actual date marks the first time that the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed in Gallipoli, Turkey in 1915 to take part in armed combat in World War I.
The Australian Opals, our national women’s basketball team, appreciate the importance of the soldiers that gave their lives in numerous wars over the years. The likes of Lauren Jackson, Kirsti Harrower and Tully Bevilaqua will be in attendance at the 2010 ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial tomorrow.
Lest We Forget.
