weekly warnings copy

Returning undefeated, for its second week, are the Weekly Warnings. You'll start to notice a theme, that its not always possible to pick one and one only in each category -- this is never a bad thing of course. As always, if you've got any tips, even if you produced them yourself, please email them to me (mookie [at] asternwarning.com).

tweet of the week copy

Two great tweets this week, from two ever-giving personalities.

"Scrape the chicken off the ceiling and let's get to work! NOW!"

-- Scot Pollard (@PlanetPollard) from web

"Would people b mad, if I woulda stepped on that bat, that manu ginobli knocked out the air."

-- Shaquille O'Neal (@THE_REAL_SHAQ from TwitterBerry

story of the week copy

We all saw it miles away -- at least as far away as Detroit. The Allen Iverson in Memphis situation was fraught with danger. A young team, full of potential, decides to add not only Zach Randolph, but the Answer as well? First AI was injured, then he voiced disdain at coming off the bench and now he has left the team "for personal reasons", with reports stating that he may be retiring. All this in just over a week.

Memphis Commercial Appeal: Grizzlies' Iverson mulling retirement

Heisley said he's not been given any indication that Iverson might be leaning towards retirement, and still is holding out hope that the 10-time All-Star will return to Memphis.

"I just think if he was going to retire, he'd tell me first," Heisley said. "I expect him to come back. If he does retire, I'll be tremendously disappointed. I feel bad because I don't think that's the way he should go out."

Iverson, who traveled from Los Angeles to his Atlanta home over the weekend, was granted an indefinite leave of absence. He has not asked to be traded or waived.

Take a long hard look, this struggling Allen Iverson might be the last one you see on a basketball court. We certainly hope not though. This image (courtesy of Getty) comes during November 6 action against the Lakers.

The Onion continues to bring the best in satire.

Lamar, really... what are you doing?

stats of the week copy

When LeBron James comes to Madison Square Garden, there is always hoopla attached. LeBron lived up to the occasion, with this near triple double in a Cavs 100-91 win.

LeBron James (CLE, G/F): 33 pts, 8 reb, 9 ast, 3 stl, 12/17 FG, 7 turnovers.

Yes, the Onion are hilarious! If only they did basketball stuff more frequently. Thanks to reader "Gaff" for sending that in earlier this week.
